The essence of the girl (and the blog)

After years of dreaming and yearning, I can finally say that I am a college student. It may seem like a rather asinine thing to be over the moon about, but I've been longing for ages to kickstart the next chapter of my life: beginning my journalistic journey.

I have been blogging for years, though none of my previous blogs never seemed to actually stick through. I am giving blogging one more shot, in hopes that this one, during one of the most important times of my life, is actually a keeper. I am horrible with finding time and inspiration to write, but rest assured, in a new environment I am bound to find more and more beauties to blog about. Another reason as to why I've never been a successful (or should I say consistent) blogger is because I feel that I have lacked a certain sense of direction with my blogs. I couldn't decipher the line between personal and public. It didn't hit me until just recently that the truth is...I should just write about whatever I want. For now, it doesn't need to go in a certain direction. It doesn't have to specifically be a fashion, art, music, travel, culture, or soccer blog. It's about me. So I can essentially blog about whatever my heart feels, whenever I want.

So what you see here are basically pieces of my life. Perhaps not all of them, but this is my way of sharing to the world (ahem, the two people who possibly read this) the various things that intrigue me or things that I hold near and dear to my heart.

And perhaps in due time, I will gradually document my growth as an aspiring journalist. Only time will tell, right?

Things I love:

Sunny mornings, mocha lattes (any coffee, for that matter), the scent of citrus, purple, sushi, the Spanish language, nude pumps, ruffled blouses, Paris, foreign films, the beautiful game called "soccer."

Previous journalism experience includes:

- Staff writer for middle school and high school newspaper
- Co-editor of high school newspaper
- Short-term contributer to now defunct "UNScripted" (The Intelligencer)
- Career shadowed reporters from The Philadelphia Inquirer for high school graduation project

Current work can be seen here and here.
