Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans! May your day be filled with awesome food, endless fun, and bright fireworks.
Sadly for me, my family has no plans and thus I'm stuck at home doing absolutely nothing. My mom brought up the idea of going downtown to the Ice Cream Festival, but of course my dad slammed the idea down, citing that it's going to be "too crowded." So I suppose that my $5 all-you-can-eat ice cream extravaganza will have to wait until next year. My day will probably consist of watching Star Wars, eating Ben&Jerry's, and watching LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders later on tonight.
An interesting topic on this American holiday, however, involves a certain Portuguese soccer superstar. Cristiano Ronaldo? Maybe you have heard of him...whether he was being lauded for his abilities on the pitch or his charming ways with women.
Mr. Ronaldo is apparently a father to a new baby boy. The mother is an American (who would like to be kept anonymous) and is giving Ronaldo "exclusive custody" of the child. According to sources linked to Kickette, Ronaldo was seen at Newark International Airport recently, perhaps to visit his month-old son.
I will be frank, I am not surprised that he has a child. Baby momma drama is rather prevalent in footballers. However, for some reason I find myself emotionally invested in this situation, despite the fact that I don't even like Ronaldo. Maybe it's because it just came out of nowhere? Or that I feel like a jerk for laughing that the announcement? I don't know, but what I do know is that Ronaldo will be a wonderful father, and I wish the family the best of luck.
Though I do wonder how his girlfriend is taking it...
